I am a second-year graduate student of Biophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago. The program offers
students to be advised by two mentors, so I am excited to bridge Jasmine and Ed to advise my research. I am
interested in how flagellated bacteria navigate complex environments. For the next few years, I will be actively
working on experimental evolution in bacterial locomotion at the Nirody Lab as well as agent-based modeling at
the Munro Lab. Meanwhile I will collaborate with several scientists along the way. I am also a graduate fellow at the International House of Chicago in 2022-2024. Participating a variety of programs, I value cross-cultural communication and friendships as I strive to become a global citizen in the diverse, inclusive community. Before starting my Ph.D. study, I was a part of the inaugural undergraduate class of Duke Kunshan University, located in a beautiful city, Kunshan, near Shanghai, China. Together with my fellow students and faculties, we built an international university that nourishes students in a global environment. For my capstone project, I was co- advised by Kai Huang and Huansheng Cao. My work focused on the engineering of a microfluidic platform to grow fresh-water green algae and record them in real-time. Outside academia, I love indoor climbing, outdoor running (not in the Chicago winter), unicycling, hiking, and traveling. I also enjoy trying new things in life (including making yummy/non-edible Chinese food). Academic history
